Description
The Shock Therapy Polaris RZR XP Turbo S RS1 Race Rack and Pinion is the ultimate upgrade for your Polaris RZR XP Turbo. Designed specifically for racing, this rack and pinion system is built to withstand the toughest conditions and maximize performance.
One of the key features of this race rack is its construction. Made from high-grade 7075 aluminum, this rack is nearly as strong as carbon steel, ensuring durability and longevity. The rack is also hard anodized plated, providing a hardened surface that prevents wear even in the harshest environments.
To ensure proper lubrication and minimize wear, the race rack utilizes dispersed grease passage lubrication. A single grease fitting feeds six different spots in the rack through a network of internal passages, including the pinion gear, rack gear on all four sides, and the vertical stress load spots. This tight internal tolerance means that you only need to grease the rack with two pumps of a grease gun every 1000 race miles during your routine maintenance.
The race rack features a massive 1" x 1" square rack gear. This square gear is twice as thick as the stock round gear at its weak point, preventing bending and breakage. The material used is also 125% stronger than stock, providing superior strength and durability. Additionally, the square rack gear eliminates twist, ensuring that the gear remains securely in place and removing any pinion gear forces.
The rack gear is pre-heat treated, creating a perfectly straight gear with less than 1 thousandth of an inch of runout from end to end. This precision allows for a tight rack body and zero tolerance play, minimizing wear and increasing longevity.
The race rack also features a patent-pending gear tooth design. This design has twice the base thickness of a standard system, making it much stronger and less prone to breakage. The pinion gear is heat treated to a 60 Rockwell, providing superior strength and longevity.
In terms of steering ratio, the race rack offers a quicker system than the factory rack. While the factory rack has a two-turn, lock to lock system, the race rack rotates the wheel just past 3/4 of a turn from center, resulting in a 1.5 turn system. This provides quicker and more responsive steering.
The race rack is also equipped with high-quality rod ends, using 5/8 rod ends for the tie rod pivots. These rod ends are Teflon lined and of the highest quality, ensuring durability and reducing the need for frequent replacements.
To prevent the jam nuts from loosening, the race rack utilizes a patent-pending "Taper Lock" system. This system uses a machinist tool taper to lock the jam nut and rod end in place, providing a positive lock and preventing any loosening during races.
With solid 4130 Chromoly clevises and high tolerance shoulder bolts, the race rack offers reliable and secure attachment points for the tie rods. The clevises can be welded on or threaded into aftermarket tie rods, providing flexibility and compatibility with various setups.
Please note that this race rack does not come with a warranty, as it is designed for racing purposes. Improper installation and maintenance may cause premature wear. Additionally, this rack cannot be used with stock tie rods and requires aftermarket tie rods that use 5/8 rod ends on each end.
