Description
The Shock Therapy Polaris General XP 1000 Steering Race Rack is a high-performance rack and pinion designed specifically for racing purposes. Made for the GENERAL XP 1000, this rack requires aftermarket tie rods that use 5/8 Rod Ends on each end.
At Shock Therapy, we initially used a stock rack and pinion in our XP Turbo with 32" tires and didn't experience any issues. However, during a race, our steering failed completely when the factory rack sheared in half. We discovered that aftermarket replacements offered minimal improvements and even introduced bump steer to the front end geometry.
Unable to find a suitable rack on the market, we decided to create our own race rack. Here are some of the features that make it superior to any other rack:
1. Made from 7075 Aluminum: This high-grade aluminum boasts exceptional strength and durability, outperforming the more common 6000 series aluminum.
2. Hard Anodized Plating: The hardened surface not only extends the lifespan of the rack but also protects it against wear in harsh environments.
3. Dispersed Grease Passage Lubrication: Our rack features a unique internal lubrication system that ensures proper grease distribution to critical areas, reducing wear and increasing longevity.
4. Huge 1"x1" Square Rack Gear: This massive gear is twice as thick as the stock gear and prevents bending, breakage, and twist, eliminating the common issue of snapped rack gears.
5. Pre-heat Treated Rack Gear: Unlike most racks that use soft material and heat treatment, we start with pre-hardened material to maintain perfect straightness and minimal runout.
6. Patented Gear Tooth Design: Our custom tooth design provides twice the base thickness of a standard tooth, significantly reducing the risk of breakage.
7. Heat Treated Pinion Gear: Machined from solid 4140 Chromoly material, our pinion gear undergoes heat treatment for superior strength, surpassing that of a carbon steel drill bit.
8. Pinion Bearings: We've designed a unique system that preloads the pinion bearing vertically, preventing it from tightening up on the pinion gear.
9. Faster Steering Ratio: Our rack achieves a quicker steering ratio of just over 1.5 turns from lock to lock, offering a more responsive driving experience.
10. High-Quality Rod Ends: Our race rack utilizes large 5/8 rod ends for superior strength and longevity, ensuring they last an entire racing season.
11. "Taper Lock" Jam Nuts: Our patented jam nuts feature a machinist tool taper, preventing them from loosening during racing conditions.
12. 4130 Chromoly Clevises: The tie rod clevises are made from solid 4130 Chromoly and come in various sizes to fit different tie rod systems.
Please note that this race rack does not come with a warranty, and proper installation and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance. Additionally, the clevises cannot be installed into the race rack and should be threaded into the tie rods.
Experience unbeatable performance and reliability with the Shock Therapy Polaris General XP 1000 Steering Race Rack. It's the ultimate choice for racing enthusiasts who demand the best from their steering system.
